Requirements
Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting this position is responsible for end to end cost accounting functions. This includes analysis of paper, print and bind costs and ensuring that costs are applied to the appropriate order numbers in a timely and accurate manner. This also includes proper allocation of paper costs utilizing third party vendor reports. Identifying and correcting costing issues is critical. Responsibilities also include monthly reconciliations of sub-ledgers and general ledger accounts as well as preparation, review and distribution of reports. This position will utilize available technologies and standard procedures to perform functions as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Major Responsibilities:
• Cost Accounting
◦ Utilize all tools available to effectively monitor production costs
◦ Review, analyze and correct order costs as needed.
◦ Communicate significant issues to management and business unit.
◦ Understand downstream accounting and financial ramifications of adjustments made.
◦ Ensure procedures are documented and updated
• Monthly close
◦ Run select month-end reports in adherence to month-end schedules.
◦ Review reports for completeness and accuracy.
◦ Report any potential issues to management
◦ Distribute to appropriate recipients in a timely manner.
• Reconciliations
◦ Analyze monthly activity in select sub-ledgers and compare activity to general ledger accounts.
◦ Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
◦ Communicate potential issues to management.
• Other Support
◦ Assist with ad hoc analysis as requested.
◦ Assist with cost accounting requirements for the annual audit.
◦ Support other team members and share knowledge.
◦ Proactively resolve open issues and questions
Skills:
• Solid understanding of Cost Accounting principles
• Proficiency with SAP, EPM, and Analysis for Office (AO)
• Advanced Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables, arrays, data management, etc.
• Effective communication skills
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics
• Three to five years cost accounting experience
