This position is responsible for driving and managing multiple data and analytics consulting projects or life sciences product deployment projects, of varying size and complexity, for external customers. The Project Manager will manage all phases of the project, from contract signature through customer acceptance. The Professional Services Project Manager will lead collaboration with cross-functional internal stakeholders: Professional Services Consultants, Professional Services Technical Managers, Product Management, Technology-Development, Technology-Operations, and Quality.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
Project Management
Depending on scope and complexity, manage up to four highly complex projects and several moderate to simple complexity projects a year.
Manage all phases of the project:
1. Initiating
2. Planning
3. Execution
4. Monitoring & Controlling
5. Closing
Communication Management
Serve as Primary Point of Contact for customer
Lead customer project meetings
Lead internal project team meetings
Report project status to customer
Report project status to internal senior management
Deliverable Management
Ownership of and accountability for the project schedule
Create, monitor, and update timeline for all contracted deliverables
Manage delivery of project deliverables to customer
Ensure customer approval of deliverables
Scope & Change Management
Review, understand and ensure project delivers contracted scope
Identify and document customer requests for work outside contracted scope
Risk & Issue Management
Identify, monitor, mitigate or resolve project risks & issues
Quality Management
Maintain project compliance with corporate and public regulations
Functional and Technical Competencies
• Strong project delivery skills — accurate project planning, delivers to milestone dates, manages resources effectively, communicates status effectively, manages risks, and can juggle multiple activities at once to accomplish goals.
• Strong organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments.
• Advanced problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
• Advanced communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences
• 5+ years of Project Management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, or business, or equivalent experience required
• Project governance certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) preferred
• Experience using MS Project, MS Office, and MS Visio
• Experience delivering on projects of various sizes and duration
• Experience partnering with other project stakeholders to resolve issues, mitigate project impacts and deliver shared results
• Experience coordinating team work flow in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Detail-oriented and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and priorities
• Results-oriented outlook with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives
