Job Description
• Manages and leads a procurement organization of vendor management professionals that support a major functional area.
• Builds strong relationships with both internal and external customers and vendors, coordinates and communicates company requirements across multiple business units.
• Makes decisions that require consistent recognition of a wide range of complex, specialized issues, problems and opportunities across the Company’s negotiation and purchasing of capitalized, network, and operating/service expenses. Steadily identifies the need for and collects information to better understand issues, problems and opportunities.
• Builds a high performance team; hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and take action. Demonstrates CenturyLink’s values, maintains a positive open demeanor, encourages different points of view, moves team forward through change; provides timely information; communicates context for business decisions; recognizes accomplishments; fosters teamwork and collaboration.
• Responsible for category procurement strategy by developing process improvement efforts aimed at reducing the total cost of ownership. Improves on time/quality performance, settles vendor disputes, and builds alliances and relationships with strategic vendors. Identifies cross functional savings opportunities and develops the team to execute against those plans. Leads teams in the preparation of scope documents, communication plans and contract awards.
• Candidate must have to ability to create and clearly communicate complex procurement/sourcing strategies at the executive level.
• Excellent abilities in negotiation and contract management
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience
• Bachelors Degree
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Travel up to 10%
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
