Capital Newspapers is seeking an hourly employee to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday performing a variety of office functions. Candidates should be prepared to offer strong customer service and have excellent grammar, typing and proofreading skills. Experience with Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn a variety of computer software is required. The person will be required to understand and avoid conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality.
Duties include answering the main phone line and directing calls appropriately, working with advertising and circulation customers, accepting and preparing obituaries, celebrations, and news releases for print and digital platforms. This includes serving as the primary contact for funeral homes as well as individual customers. Editing and proofreading content for print and digital platforms as well as downloading and editing syndicated content are part of the job.
