Editorial Assistant - Penguin Workshop
At Penguin Workshop, we make great books for every kind of reader, from birth to age twelve.
We are looking for an editorial assistant to provide administrative support to the Penguin Workshop editorial team. This position also assists in all stages of the editorial process from acquisition to publication.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provides general administrative support (answers phones, photocopies, files, liaises with other departments, etc.).
2. Corresponds with authors, agents, and other professional contacts.
3. Writes cover copy, catalog copy, and title information sheets.
4. Assists with acquisition paperwork and profit & loss statements.
5. Evaluates manuscripts and writes editorial letters.
6. Attends regular editorial and creative meetings.
Qualifications:
• Excellent writing and copywriting skills
• Excellent follow-through skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to think creatively
• Attentive to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
• Knowledge and appreciation pop-culture, trends, and children’s brands across a variety of media.
