Job Description
ABC10 in Sacramento is looking for a motivated, innovative leader to drive the gathering, creation, and distribution of engaging, compelling content. The Manager of Innovation will work collaboratively as part of the news management team and play a key role in continuing to grow the station’s content and audience-focused strategy. Our ideal candidate can identify engaging content and unique presentation styles, teach others how to do so, and find new ways to create content that are relevant to our viewers both on air and online. They will inspire the news team to produce enterprise content in all day parts tailoring to each digital and social platform with storytelling that is optimized for each screen.
This person will be expected to work quickly and manage multiple projects, so management experience is a plus.
The Manager of Content Innovation will:
• Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting great newscasts
• Be a newsroom leader and a bold voice in editorial discussions
• Challenge the norm
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance content across platforms
• Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure the brand promise and strategies are met
• Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers
• Identify daily opportunities to have our news get noticed and reach new audiences
• Actively partner with the Director of Content and other newsroom managers to create three-screen synergy (TV, digital, mobile) around station content and campaigns
• Embrace ABC10’s vision of setting the bar others want to follow by creating engaging and relevant content that meets the audience where they are
• Perform other tasks as required by the Director of Content

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Experience successfully leading teams through content transformation
• Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
• Passion and vision for emerging media
• Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems a plus
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus
