Requirements
Position Description:
Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group is seeking a Marketing Assistant to execute a wide array of administrative tasks under the supervision of the Director of Advertising and Promotion. They will assist with the creation and production of promotional material and advertising collateral for Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group and each of its imprints. The Marketing Assistant will play an important role in helping the department execute creative and successful advertising campaigns for books across all ages and formats, including picture books, middle grade and young adult fiction and nonfiction, graphic novels, and more.
Main responsibilities include providing administrative and creative support to the Director and department including being the main point of contact for the organization of the department, including data entry, scheduling, invoicing, mailings, ad reservations and more.
The assistant will help coordinate the development of advertisements and promotional materials, including gathering art, writing copy, trafficking passes, and proofreading. This position requires that the candidate be organizationally talented, proficient in managing and prioritizing many projects at once, extremely detail-oriented, creative with strong writing skills, fully aware of the importance of deadlines and an excellent team player. PC Skills, especially Excel are a must. Mac Skills with any design experience a plus. Ideal candidate should have 1 year publishing, advertising, or marketing industry experience, which may include internships.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative and creative support to the Advertising Director and department
• Maintain organization of department, including all data entry, scheduling, invoicing, filing, mailings, ad reservations and more
• Document and store all stages of each project maintaining detailed excel grids: including advertising master schedule, invoice grid and promotion grid
• Assist with the creation of advertisements and promotional materials; including trade, consumer, social, print and online ads, promo items, including displays, stickers and more
• Assist with the execution and optimization of self-service advertising campaigns
• Organize all meetings (dept. staff meeting, monthly promo meetings, media meetings)
• Attend MCPG company meetings and engage with thoughtful questions
• Present ad campaigns to publishers and sales force when necessary
• Proofread copy for accuracy and adherence to grammatical guidelines, as well as proofing meta data

Experience Needed:
• PC skills a must. MAC skills a plus
• Design experience, specifically Adobe Design Suite a plus
• Familiarity with the publishing industry preferred
Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s degree required (English, Advertising, Marketing, or Publishing Program preferred)
