PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Director is a true business partner and senior leader on our team. This position will have a solid line reporting relationship to the Vice President of Human Resources for Spectrum Reach and a strong dotted line relationship to the senior executives in the assigned client functions (Senior Sales and Senior Marketing executives). The Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing all HR internal client support and the development of positive employee relations for a large geographic region in the North East. The Human Resources Director will be responsible for managing a team of HR Business Partners, and will work closely with various Corporate HR functions to support the needs of the organization. This position may oversee HR Business Partners from other areas as well to provide general assistance or for oversight on full enterprise special projects. This individual will be part of a tightknit HR leadership team spanning geographically distributed across the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES:
• As the senior HR person for the assigned areas/functions, this role will be responsible for overseeing a team of HR professionals in support of large client groups across various locations.
• The Director partners closely with senior executives in Sales and Marketing to develop people strategies consistent with the values of the organization, as well as the direction of the larger business group/company.
• This person serves as a primary senior liaison to various Reach and Corporate HR functions (Recruiting, Training, Development, Payroll, Benefits, etc.) for all matters related to supporting assigned client groups/locations.
• Provides oversight for the implementation, administration, and delivery of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
• Serves as the senor HR voice and decision maker related to policy and procedures within assigned areas.
• Oversees Human Resources projects for assigned client groups or for the full enterprise.
• Participates as a member of the senior leadership team for assigned client areas (has a seat at the table for all strategic planning meetings with C Suite clients). Will provide expertise on all matters related to employees and will also contribute by suggesting ideas and recommendations to help the business grow and improve, in true partnership with sr. leaders.
• May have final decision making authority for employee relations matters, compensation, policy exceptions, rewards and recognition and other high level matters impacting assigned client functions.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 8+ years of related professional HR business partner experience, ideally supporting a Sales organization.
• Previous experience managing HR teams.
• A proven ability to think strategically, use good judgment, as well as possess strong analytical, decision making, negotiation and problem solving skills.
• Previous project management experience running, overseeing or implementing HR initiatives is important for this role.
• Demonstrated ability to support C Suite clients and the ability to influence the business is essential.
• Proven track record of forging lasting relationships with employees and creating a friendly, fair and motivating organization culture is essential.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and regulations.
• Strong experience base in handling and resolving complex employee relations issues.
• Ability to effectively interact, provide direction and resolve problems in employment matters with division-wide personnel is critical.
• A strong facilitator with a proven ability to interface with all levels of the Company. Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure and meet goals/deadlines is a must.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, change-oriented environment while having a calm attitude, think clearly, and stay focused.
• Ability to use effective verbal and written communication skills in the development and presenting human resources programs with all levels of employees within the organization.
• Ability to effectively coach/counsel executives, managers, employees and HR team members regarding various employment matters.
• This role includes overnight travel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree in HR related field is desirable.
• SHRM or related Human Resources certification is preferred.
