OVERVIEW:
A Project Manager or Senior Project Manager inside the Conde Nast Co/Lab Program Management Office [PMO] is responsible for the planning and execution of projects throughout the company. He/she will be a key stakeholder in the successful completion of project deliverables and will participate in all aspects of the project life cycle, from kick-off to final hand off to business owners. Key tasks include scoping and prioritizing requirements/stories, identifying key resources, overseeing and facilitating the completion of project tasks, coordinate activities within tasks (technical and non-technical), and communicating status, issues and risks regularly to direct management and stakeholders.
The PMO team reports to the Sr. VP, Co/Lab Digital Operations. Some projects will be brand (magazine) based, others will be enterprise, and could break down by functions – Sales and Sales Support, Financial, etc. The needs of the organization will determine the project/product/application mix, which creates an existing roadmap with a bit of adventure! Some projects will require deep day-to-day management of tasks, resources, and priorities, while others will be higher level risk and health management. But all projects and tasks will be driven by a defined roadmap that equates to the success of the revenue year.
Candidates should have experience supervising projects and directing teams in a matrix organization, facilitating rapport and discussions with technical and non-technical team members to find solutions to issues, and ensuring transparency during all stages of a project. They should be able to multi-task across multiple projects at the same time, and they should know how to analyze, prioritize, and strategize for the success of the project. Candidates should have a strong analytical, logistical, and technical background and a proven track-record of launching projects on-time and within budget. The strongest candidate would possess consultative skills, both tactical and strategic, akin to the skill set of someone with consulting background (analytical, technical, tactical, and strategic) who can move across different types of engagements.
Recent or current PMO project examples are implementing an enterprise Workday Implementation, an enterprise ADA Compliance implementation, personalization product launches, launching LennyLetter.com, launching the Conde Nast Pharma Initiative, implementing a Tapad Device Graph, liaising with the Consumer Marketing team, implementing the Conde Nast/Vox Media partnership, rolling out Salesforce.com, replacing the Order Management System for I/Os, and the like. There really is great variety between brand and enterprise projects.
