SUMMARY
Hulu’s Accounting team is seeking a Manager, Accounting – Content. The ideal candidate will have both a public and private accounting background. The right person for this role will be pro-active, self-directed, and sets a high bar for his/her work product. WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Own the content general ledger accounts including review of all month-end close journal entries and supporting work paper reconciliations
• Review and approve content production and licensing payments, which involves the tracking of development, production, and licensing milestones to trigger remittance
• Review participation statements distributed to co-producing partners and studios
• Work with the Content FPandA, Content Acquisition, Content Partner Management, and Legal teams to provide guidance on content accounting treatment for deals under negotiation as well as recently executed agreements
• Propose and review the appropriate accounting treatment as it relates to content cost capitalization, amortization and impairments
• Establish scalable workflows around ultimate revenues, participations and residuals, which includes managing the creation and maintenance of individual film forecast models under ASC 926
• Review monthly and quarterly statements and associated support as part of the content partner remittance process for timely issuance of content payments
• Initiate and lead production cost audits on behalf of our co-produced or licensed original productions
• Be a lead contact for annual internal and external audits as necessary, including working with auditors on content-related audit schedules and preparation of financial statements footnotes and disclosures
• Supervise implementation of new systems, when needed
• Ensure the creation and maintenance of process documentation
• Oversee the professional development of staff and senior accountants
• Manage ad-hoc projects when necessary
WHAT TO BRING
• 6 to 8 years of experience, with 4+ years of public accounting experience from a Big 4 accounting firm preferred
• 4 + years of supervisory experience within the accounting field
• Relevant accounting experience or knowledge of the media and entertainment industry, specifically ASC 920 and ASC 926
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods such as at month and year-end
NICE-TO-HAVES
• Knowledge of the Subscription Video On Demand industry
• Experience with Rightsline as a content rights and accounting system
• Experience with Workday financials
• Active CPA license
