Amplify Learning is creating an exciting new curriculum that reinvents teaching and learning in the core subjects of English Language Arts, math and science. These products combine interactive game-like experiences with analytics that meet the rigorous demands of the CCSS. By optimizing the power of adaptive technologies, our Learning products support individualized instruction for students and, at the same time, facilitate classroom management for teachers.
At Amplify, we’re looking for a Copy Editor to edit and proofread the English Language Arts curriculum and other materials.
*We are looking specifically for candidates in the following key market areas: New York City and Boston*
Job Responsibilities of the Copy Editor:
• Copy edit digital and print curriculum and other materials
• Work closely with writers to understand their intended meaning and improve on the clarity of their text
• Identify inconsistencies and other content problems, and work with writers to fix those problems
• Check the accuracy of direct quotes and details such as page references and material/resource references
• Correct text to align with in-house styles
• Check formal definitions against Amplify definitions
• Proofread digital (or print) files; work with content producers (or graphic designers) to ensure all content is clean and error-free
• Special projects, as needed
Basic Requirements:
• Relevant bachelor’s degree
• 4+ years of copy editing experience with a track record of producing clean documents on time
• Proven advanced understanding of the English language and rules of grammar, punctuation, and other technical aspects of writing
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to work harmoniously with everyone on the curriculum team, including writers, reviewers, graphic designers, and managers
• Extreme attention to detail
Preferred Requirements:
• Relevant advanced degree
• Experience with English language arts curriculum
