JOB DESCRIPTION
The Production Coordinator will work in the Production Management Department at National Geographic Studios, assisting the Director of Production Management in ensuring the smooth running of all areas of in-house and independent production. This role will provide departmental support services to a busy, fast-paced department. You will provide friendly and organized assistance liaising with internal production teams, legal, finance, third-party producers, vendors, talent and core Channel staff.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Director of Production Management in the day to day running of productions, both in-house and third-party. This may include liaising with internal producers, core Channel staff, and outside vendors as needed.
• Assist Director of Production Management in an administrative capacity managing their calendar, meetings, expenses, and liaising with Line Producers and Finance on all contracts and documents the Director needs to sign.
• Stay up to date on internal show needs and assist Line Producers as needed.
• Assist with any production management needs from Branded Content Division.
• Keep organized records for key components of shows including shoot dates, insurance and compliance information, delivery dates and contact lists. Manage staff lists, login subscriptions, passwords and other departmental documents.
• Track operational needs when new productions are set up, such as liaising with IT and other departments to get new team members set up with computers, badges, office space, supplies, etc. (in both NY and DC offices)
• Learn finance system and be responsible for all new vendor onboarding, uploading and tracking of invoices.
• Participate in regular Production Management meetings.
• Other duties as requested by the Director, Production Management. This may include special projects for the department and/or specific shows.
Requirements:
• Communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with a variety of people including team personnel, clients and vendors to establish productive, ongoing relationships.
• Has prior knowledge of television production.
• A positive and proactive attitude and a willingness to jump in and help.
• Well organized and capable of handling multiple assignments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• 1+ year video production experience (broadcast, agency or digital video company preferred)
