Job Summary:
The industry is changing. Marketers demand more than traditional reports, data is
now integral to strategy. This requires a new type of analyst, one that combines systematic thinking with strategic media vision. Horizon Analytics is evolving the field by providing a client-centric group, tasked with the development and integration of insights.
The Technical Operations Manager will be a critical role for the Analytic Operations
team, which will help to educate and implement technology standards across the
Analytics Team at Horizon. The role is responsible for contributing to the definition
of operational processes, best-practices, standards, and tool selection.
The ideal candidate will partner with the Analytics Team members through both
education and hands-on implementation. The candidate will posses the ability to
operate at a strategic level in considering operational constructs that will enhance
our Analytics process, while being able to work with team members to demonstrate
the tactical implementation of defined constructs. The candidate will require a strong background in data manipulation, large volume data management, and analytical science. methods.
Responsibilities:
Business/Strategic
• Create technical ontent for documentation of department standards and procedures
• Develop methods for innovating and/or streamlining the technical process within the Analytics Team
• Where necessary, provide temporary hands-on help to Analytics client teams
related to the implementation or enhancement of technology operations
• Comprehend he different approaches our clients take with their Advertising and
Marketing strategies, to better assist with developing automation
• Evaluate new tools in the marketplace which may yield significant benefits for the
Analytics process
• Work with agency Information Technology (IT) staff to coordinate the proper
delivery of required resources for the Analytics Team members
• Ability to serve in client-facing situations to convey
Management/Supervisory
• Mentor Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Managers with technology best practices
and solving complex technical challenges
• Participate in new hire training sessions which provide initial education on key
tool uses and methods required for Analytic Team members
• Serve as a liaison with other Horizon Media departments and maintain strong
relationships across departments with members of those teams
Design & Development
• Develop scripts/snippets in various languages (SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, Java,
etc.) needed to foster automation practices for operations projects, or Analytics
Team deliverables
• Comprehend network infrastructure impacts on ata processing and provide
guideance on best-practices
• Be able to construct start-to-finish automation processes with defined outputs
• Carry forward data architecture practices by adhering to 3rd Normal form directives when designing relational data schemes
Communications
• Serve as the Analytic Operations point of contact for Analytics Team members
needing technical assistance
• Help to advance the understanding of our Advanced Analytics capabilities and
talent to Horizon staff, clients, and vendors
• Educate and socialize the importance of data and analytics within the organization
• Re-enforce the excellence of Horizon personnel in any/all roles of the organization— We are all representatives of Horizon
Qualifications:
• Must be able to comprehend data manipulation challenges for a Media practice
and produce automated procedures for manipulating data into desired output
formats with little or no human intervention
• Strong analytical skills are required, including the ability to analyze raw data, draw
conclusions, and summarize actionable recommendations with forecasted outcomes/
implications
• Thought leadership on all aspects of data architecture, data scale, responsible
processing, and efficient routines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey and
package technical findings in layman’s terms
• Experience with media data sources (comScore, Millward Brown, Nielsen DAR/TAR/Brand Effects, MRI), third party ad serving platforms (Sizmek, DCM), web
analytics (Omniture/Google Analytics), third-party validation (IAS, DoubleVerify),
data visualization (Tableau), and attribution solutions (Visual IQ, Adometry)
• An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience. Masters degree preferred.
