Job Description:
Dow Jones is looking for an Editor-in-Chief to run, reinvent, and reimagine our commercial team of journalists within a dynamic commercial newsroom. The ideal candidate will be able to understand, navigate and create within very different worlds. They will have a strong journalistic background and can understand the broad range of topics covered by our core news brands (Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and MarketWatch) as well as the sophistication and taste level required to create content within our luxury and lifestyle environments (WSJ Magazine, Penta, and Mansion Global). And, while professional journalism is at our core, the ideal candidate will understand how to creatively solve problems and create commercial value for our internal and external clients. The candidate must have newsroom, creative studio and/or other managerial experience, work well on tight deadlines, and be collaborative and creative in spirit.
Based in New York, this Editor will be responsible for helping to manage the day-to-day flow of the editorial work associated with Custom Content programs, working closely with our team of reporters, writers and editors to create sophisticated, creative and in-depth features for our Clients. This editorial team is responsible for the creation of content across all platforms including but not limited to websites & digital hubs, videos, apps, e-newsletters, magazines, newsletters, social, events, live journalism, infographics, e-zines, custom surveys, video and more.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Create best-in-class custom content while continually evolving what we deliver to meet market demands, add value in new ways, and stay ahead of the competition.
• Support our strategic focus of data-led storytelling and live journalism.
• Push for new ways of storytelling while preserving the quality of our journalism. Oversee creation of comprehensive and compelling editorial platforms and ideas for branded content programs that are digital-centric, but that can be translated across multiple channels, including print, video, social, mobile and tablet. Innovate on new ways of conveying information -- data visualization, explainer videos, live data experiences.
• Oversee editorial teams of editors and writers in creation of standard setting, award winning content for our advertising partners.
• Attract and retain top talent.
• Bring in training and development to keep team sharp and relevant. Lend editorial insights to develop best practices for content creation, onboarding new talent, quality control, competitive advantage, etc.
• Raise our profile in the marketplace (Make us Famous) -- thought leadership, awards strategy, speaking at conferences, blog writing.
• Responsible for end-to-end editorial process (ideation, topics, writing, editing, fact-checking, quote releases, proofreading) working with the team Creative Director and other teams across the network.
• Work with our SVP of Strategic & Creative Operations to deliver exceptional work on time and on budget that earns us top client satisfaction scores.
• Management of full-time and contingent editors/writers.
• Bring in preferred partners to create a robust network of best-in-class specialists to help us execute and deliver on our sold programs.
Requirements:
• Multiple years of editorial, writing/reporting and management experience.
• Experience in visual editing, understanding how different forms of storytelling work together in digital mediums.
• Client-facing experience.
• Expertise in business and technology topics.
• Appreciation and taste level to understand the consumer and luxury space.
• Conceptual creative abilities.
• Deep roster of writers, project editors and other content creators.
