Pearson’s Global Digital Channels and Experience team is looking for a Director of UX and Design to lead a team that works on excellence in customer to employee-facing usability. We need a master at removing friction from digital experiences with an ability to think strategically, look at the business analytically, obsess about the customer and implement with speed.
As the Director of UX and design, you’ll be the company’s tastemaker across digital channels: developing and evolving the overall look-and-feel of our websites, ecommerce storefronts and over time on mobile sites, apps and more. Leading a small team of designers, art directors, implementation managers you will define the overall UX and design direction.

Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
• Be both a UX leader and hands-on designer across all phases of the design lifecycle. Lead the creation of UX artifacts including customer research and analysis, feature/flow architecture, wireframes, prototypes, content strategy, and design.
• Articulate design vision and thought leadership. Maintain high standards for design artifacts including wireframes, diagrams, prototypes and visual design.
• Lead discovery workshops and projects at the intersection of Strategy, Design and Technology. You will be involved in the ideation and design process, ensuring our interaction design expertise elevates our work to best-in-class level.
• Work with developers and QE to deliver polished final product. Lead activities such as customer journeys, heuristic reviews and usability testing.
• Lead, Inspire, Mentor and Develop others on the team and influence related product areas outside your area
• Help the design team with planning, prioritizing, and overseeing initiatives; manage projects; ensure that all designs are executed on time and at the highest quality levels; manage and scope team initiatives, set priorities, and direct the team to ensure timely delivery.
Key Attributes:
• An online or digital portfolio demonstrating breadth and depth in UX and visual design, conceptual thinking, and creative problem solving across platforms.
• 10+ years of experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams from start to finish
• Ability to be highly collaborative with a focus on results. Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines
• Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices - and you're always looking to improve on your process
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment
• Power to influence others and build consensus, while dealing with ambiguity
• Ability to produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team
• Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines
• Experience using analytics, user research and other approaches to help make decisions and iterate on the product
• A deep appreciation and talent for simple solutions to complex problems
• Proven ability to drive complex design issues across large organizations and across disciplines.
• Expert knowledge of design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Axure, Photoshop etc
• Required: Experience managing teams of other designers
• Required: Hybris or other eCommerce solution experience
• Required: AEM or other enterprise CMS experience
