Overview
HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) is looking for a highly-motivated event manager who also has a love for books! As a world-leading Christian publisher, the company profile has high visibility within the industry and it is looking for an event manager to best represent the company at events, trade shows, conferences, meetings and more. This position will work with outside vendors, as well as some of the publishing industry’s leading creative minds, and will be responsible for fulfilling the company’s event and show dreams!
This position manages the company’s presence at all events, trade and consumer shows, as well as managing corporate events. The position also requires a high level of tactical coordination and strategic alignment across the company and publishing teams to help fulfill specific objectives.
Responsibilities
• Trade shows, consumer shows/events
◦ Responsible for all event properties utilized at shows (design, storage, etc.)
◦ Manage all major shows where both Thomas Nelson and Zondervan or related imprints are represented, including but not limited to: Catalyst, ALA, ICRS, BookExpo, and Expolit.
◦ Manage all shows exhibited at by Sales
◦ Provide oversight, direction, and management where applicable for shows attended by individual product groups
◦ Be onsite contact and coordinator for events where applicable
◦ Manage the HCCP attendee list for non-exhibiting events
◦ Maintain master list of all events/shows at which HCCP exhibits or attends
• Sales conferences
◦ Meet with Sales leadership to determine priorities, including any training or special events
◦ Prepare agenda
◦ Book venues, vendors and coordinate with venue staff as needed
◦ Make catering arrangements
◦ Work with travel manager to ensure hotel and travel accommodations are confirmed and communicated
◦ Work with appropriate in-house technology staff
◦ Provide follow-up feedback to improve attendee experience
• Employee Meetings
◦ Schedule venues and coordinate with venue staff as needed
◦ Work with in-house technology staff to ensure technology needs are met and run smoothly
◦ Communicate meeting details to employees
• Corporate events
◦ Schedule venues and coordinate with venue staff as needed
◦ Make catering arrangements for Christmas luncheon and Summer Luncheon
◦ Work with appropriate in-house technology staff
◦ Communicate event details to employees
◦ Employee Appreciation event facilitation
◦ Other duties as assigned or appropriate
◦ Analyze the opportunities of each show/event, and evaluate those in relation to overall strategic priorities
◦ Drive the strategic planning process while collecting ideas from Sales and Marketing, and blending those ideas into an on-budget show strategy
Qualifications
Knowledge:understanding of intricacies of event and trade show planning, as well as meeting planning.
Work Experience:2-5 years of experience in event, meeting and trade show planning.
Education:Bachelor’s degree required; CMP or equivalent certification preferred.
Industry Knowledge:stays current on trends and best practices in event, meeting and trade show planning.
