Job Description:
Custom Research is a unified group focused on bespoke solutions for our clients. This involves unique research which is tailored and optimized for our customers’ specific needs.
The group is comprised of teams who:
• Research and write high-quality Due Diligence reports on companies and/or individuals
• Write targeted queries and hand select the most relevant news for My Company Today newsletters
• Provide one-off reports where entities and/or individuals are screened against negative references in the news
• Support WSJ Pro offerings via research and original writing on cybersecurity and other topics
The position sits within the Due Diligence subgroup, a global team based in Barcelona, Princeton and Singapore, which is responsible for researching/writing and reviewing/proofing of high-quality reports on companies and/or individuals using a combination of publically-available and proprietary sources.
Role
The Quality Analyst, under minimal supervision, is responsible for proofreading and editing a high volume of custom reports on tight deadlines to ensure they meet the client’s exacting specifications. In addition to editing due diligence reports, the team is responsible for the complete work cycle of the Due Diligence reports, from assigning all incoming requests to dealing directly with client queries. The Quality Analyst must be able to work closely with colleagues in Sales and research colleagues through Data Strategy.
Responsibilities:
• High quality QA review on the various types of DD reports from research and proofreading perspectives –ensure that the final reports are reviewed to the highest standard and that they are well written
• Provide regular feedback to the researchers on the reports you have reviewed
• Effective management of DD daily operations during Mailbox Duty, such as appropriate and timely responses to clients and sales representatives, research assignment, communication with third party subcontractors, dealing with various problems/issues that arise during the Mailbox Duty
• Contribute to any DD admin tasks such as making sure that all templates and guidelines are updated regularly and shared with relevant parties
• The QA works closely with the other members of the Due Diligence team and their fellow Quality Analysts to ensure that the reports and daily updates meet client requirements in terms of content quality, accuracy, timeliness and completeness by establishing and monitoring standards
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
• Strong editing and proofreading skills. Prior experience in research or editorial role an advantage
• Fluency in English and at least one other language
• Previous experience in the field of Due Diligence or equivalent research experience desirable
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Ability to handle large volumes of information and meet tight deadlines
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word.
• Exceptional research skills, including online search tools.
• Strong organizational/time management skills
• Knowledge of and interest in international affairs
• Capacity to work as part of a multicultural team, to build and maintain good working relationships
• Ability to adapt readily to changing customer requirements and work well under pressure
• Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and a proactive approach to work
• Knowledge and understanding of public records (such as court records etc.) in the US and other countries desirable
• Specialist legal, business or financial knowledge an advantage
