Vice President, Marketing, VidCon
Overview and Responsibilities
VidCon, the world’s largest online video conference with events in California, Australia and London is looking for an experienced Vice President of Marketing to direct and oversee our Marketing department. You will design, implement and monitor effective marketing strategies that align with our business goals.
Our ideal candidate has a solid Marketing background and work experience managing a variety of promotional projects end-to-end, including paid advertising campaigns and digital marketing techniques. Our VP of Marketing will report directly to the GM and will oversee internal Marketing teams with a focus on building, implementing and monitoring successful marketing strategies that support our sponsorship, ticketing and expansion goals – and contribute to our overall long-term success.
This position will manage the marketing function, including a growing team currently consisting of three employees, and will be tasked with developing a strategic marketing plan, reviewing and updating our brand vision, evaluating current staff, managing all aspects of marketing our events worldwide, developing a comprehensive communications plan, sourcing and managing PR, performance and promotional marketing agencies. In addition, the Vice President of Marketing sits on the exec team for VidCon and helps drive strategic direction for VidCon, as well as participating in day-to-day decision making across the org
Specific Duties Include:
• Manage a growing team currently consisting of 3 employees, including designer, communications manager and social media manager
• Set current and long-term goals for internal teams and external partners
• Build campaigns and managing partners to deliver on quarterly and event ticketing goals
• Build long-term successful relationships with media and influencers through creative PR strategies
• Develop tactical and strategic communications strategies across paid, earned and owned channels to reach our six different constituents across all worldwide events
• Build appropriate analytics and data streams to track, manage and optimize campaign performance
• Manage and build our prospect and customer lists with a focus on expanding and extracting maximum lifetime value from our attendees
• Evaluating current partners and services with recommendations as to where we can improve
• Develop sales tools to support our worldwide sales efforts
• Conduct research to support growth at our existing events and to inform our worldwide expansion plans
• Own and enhance our branding, market positioning and our outward facing messaging and look and feel
• Set editorial and communications calendars and execute on deadline
• Participate in quarterly and annual planning meetings for sales, content and expansion
• Prepare regular reports for GM and other business stakeholders
• All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
• Proven work experience as a VP of Marketing or Marketing Director
• 7-10 years’ experience in digital marketing in increasingly senior roles, with at least two years working at an event company, or with events
• Experience in executing performance marketing campaigns
• Experience setting and executing social marketing strategies
• Experience in web marketing and website design and production
• Experience in crafting email marketing strategy, including experience writing emails that sell, and building email lists and customer databases
• Content marketing experience
• Strong grounding in data and marketing analytics, including SEO, and optimizing for web, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and other social marketing channels
• Experience in evaluating, setting and executing branding strategies
• Excellent writing and communications skills
• Ability to work on multiple products simultaneously
• Strong analytical and project management skills
• Deep knowledge of and affection for online video creators and communities
• BA or MBA in marketing or similar field required
• 20% travel required
Additional Qualifications
VidCon is located in Missoula Montana, and is owned by Viacom – with key offices in New York, LA and London. This position will ideally be located in either Los Angeles or Missoula.
