Job Description
The Director of Marketing plays a key role on the leadership team, supporting the strategic plan and developing strategies to acquire new audiences across our ABC10 platforms. This person will work collaboratively with all departments to ensure brand consistency and quality and is responsible for improving overall brand awareness in the community, by bridging our internal brand goals with strategic key relationships and external partnerships. This person will oversee the creation of all internal and external marketing materials to ensure it fits our brand mission and vision for acquiring new audiences. The ideal candidate will inspire excellence from the creative team with imagery and messaging that produces high impact brand experiences for our internal and external audiences
Essential Functions:
• The ability to lead a team of creatives including but not limited to hiring great people, training, coaching, defining and communicating expectations and holding staff accountable and providing ongoing feedback and development to foster their growth and career satisfaction.
• Act as a “brand officer”, evangelizing the brand and championing all brand-related matters inside and outside the organization.
• Collaborating regularly with content leaders on audience development strategies. Applying data, analytics, and insights to marketing campaigns that promote content, content partnerships, digital products, community partnerships and more.
• Serve as a key leader in the development and implementation of plans that unite and align content, sales, community and social.
• Be a big, bold thinker/innovator and at times, disruptor, for the station. Staying abreast of cutting-edge tools, promotion trends, and campaigns.
• Organize and develop presentations that effectively and persuasively tell a story and sell a given strategy (concept, media plans, budgets, etc.), to stakeholders
• Oversee the marketing budget and placement of outside media, build strong relationships with network, syndicators and other 3rd party partners and manage co-op requests and reconciliation
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing and consumer advertising promotion experience with a promotion-specific record of success in the television/news industry, brand management, or marketing/digital/advertising agency.
• Must be a strategic thinker and planner for promotion placement, timing and messaging across multiple mediums as a fundamental driver in executing the brand strategy and audience acquisition.
• A detail-oriented planner by nature, able to operate with a sense of urgency in the present and be constantly looking 6-18 months out to bring organization, order and planning to the larger marketing team.
• Develop and implement audience acquisition strategies by applying research insights, data, and analytics to marketing strategy and execution.
• Ability to spot trends and build future-proof strategies that grow audiences amidst rapidly changing content, technology, societal and consumer landscapes.
• Must constantly evaluate and analyze campaign results and effectiveness and pivot in real time to maximize audience growth results.
• Insight-driven with an ability to work with local and corporate research teams, data analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Crowdtangle, Tableau) and 3rd party vendors to garner insights and translate those into effective, measurable marketing strategies.
• Must be an experienced leader and coach.
