Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) seeks a full time Theatre Manager to oversee all facility management and front of house operations for its 650-seat Broadway home, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. For over forty-five years, Manhattan Theatre Club has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary American and international playwrights.
MTC produces eight plays annually in the Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and Off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.
The theatre manager is responsible for the supervision and management of the Friedman Theatre’s staff and operations. The theatre manager ensures the continual upkeep and maintenance of the theatre, maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, and provides for the highest standards in staff, audience and artist comfort.
The theatre manager also will oversee all front of house operations including hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of all front of house staff; will liaison with bar and concessions vendor and order and maintain all supplies and equipment.
The theatre manager will also submit weekly payrolls for front of house and engineering crews; review and amend departmental policies and procedures; prepare and oversee annual departmental operating budgets. The theatre manager will also maintain current operations permits and coordinate, supervise and monitor building security needs.
Requirements: Bachelors degree and at least 5 years of progressive front of house and facilities management experience in a comparable venue. Certificates of Fitness for Fire Guard and Fire Drill Conductor also required. Familiarity with ADP payroll system and strong proficiency with MS Excel desired. Excellent communications skills including an absolute attention to detail, grace under pressure and a high level of personal accountability are essential.
