Overview
The School for Strings is seeking a part-time Marketing Manager to develop and manage marketing activities. This role will promote the school's mission within the greater New York City community through advertising, public relations, events, digital programs, social media, print, and more. Most immediately, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for a redesign of the School for Strings website, as well as promoting enrollment for the Teacher Training and Early Childhood programs. Additional duties include providing support to the Executive Director and administrative staff as needed. The Marketing Manager is a part-time position with the anticipated workload averaging ten to fifteen hours per week.
Responsibilities
• Build awareness for The School for Strings through targeted programs
• Develop a marketing strategy to promote and support programs offered at the school
• Implement print and digital campaigns, including advertising, social media, word-of-mouth, events marketing, and other activities that will engage the broader community
• Manage the design and development of the website
• Stay up-to-date on best practices and new tactics to drive awareness and enrollment
• Occasional weekend and evening hours are required
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, business or related field
• Minimum 5 years marketing and communications experience, preferably for a non-profit arts or music organization
• Experience launching successful and effective digital marketing programs
• Advanced knowledge of best marketing practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Must be able to work independently and prioritize work effectively
• Detail-oriented, organized
• Basic design skills a plus
• Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as necessary
About The School for Strings:
The School for Strings, founded in 1970, is a music school dedicated to offering children of all nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds a comprehensive musical education based on the concepts and methods developed by the Japanese musician and teacher, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. The School operates on the conviction that all children have an innate talent for music, as they do for languages, and by correlation are able to achieve a high level of instrumental proficiency at a very young age. In addition, The School for Strings offers a long-term Suzuki-based teacher training program for professional musicians.
Compensation:
$50 - $60 per hour (commensurate with experience)
