Today, we’re looking for a Creative Group Manager to help inspire our teams to create amazing marketing communications experiences. Working with the Creative Directors and other team leaders, you will help set the standards for our talented team of designers, writers, UX experts and other creative professionals. You’ll support them as they create everything from global TV/film campaigns to best-in-class ecommerce experiences. From astonishing in-store demonstrations to ground-breaking press events. From beautiful packaging to impossible to ignore social media. What’s more, you’ll help us set a vision that keeps our in-house agency team on the forefront of the rapidly evolving, colliding worlds of technology, media and content.
Knowledge and skill requirements
The Group Manager role is for someone that excels and is passionate about the art of people management and leading a large, cross-functional team with 10-15 direct reports. Our people managers are trained and accountable for hiring and inspiring, coaching, supporting performance, empowering development, and modeling the essence and values of Bose. While building and fostering a foundation of trust, teamwork, and recognition with celebration of great work. Creating conditions that allow people to do their best work and removing obstacles to set the team up for success is the #1 focus. The Creative Group Manager does this by leading improvement initiatives and collaborating with other leaders across the organization to find innovative and creative ways to problem solve, drive strategy and optimize how to work better together across our company. Being able to identify ways to reduce complexity, proactively clear impediments for the team, and work across departments to drive change are all core competencies of this role.
Ideally, you have had experience managing a highly creative group. Some knowledge of the creative and production process would also be extremely valuable.
Essential job responsibilities
Work with the creative directors to set a vision for the capabilities needed and standard of excellence needed.
Create development plans for the creative team to ensure that the above is met.
Drive initiatives within the creative group related to our corporate priorities and business strategies
Complete formal performance goals, development plans and assessments 2x/year
Regularly assess individual skills and development areas in order to grow the capabilities
Coach employees by providing regular, timely, relevant feedback
Manage exceptions and provide coaching to remove obstacles related to process, workload and conflicts
Champion or drive change management and improvement activities
Maintain close collaboration with other leaders and managers to ensure an aligned vision and strategy
Implement organizational and staffing changes with consistent recruitment, and change management practices
Education and experience
The ideal candidate enjoys, and has experience, leading, coaching and developing a multi discipline, high performing team that collaborates with other cross functional teams in a creative environment.
Agency experience (advertising, digital, PR, production) would be a plus.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a manager is required.
