Curtis 1000 is seeking a Production Supervisor that will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day flow of work through Digital Print, Digital Bindery, Kitting and Direct Mail. This includes coordination of production and labor planning to efficiently produce product and kits within prescribed quality standards, on time and at or below budget and process improvement. This position must also work effectively with other teams on a regular basis to meet production demands and balance loads within the entire plant
Responsibilities Include:
• Direct and participate in process improvement events using a variety of tools to include Six Sigma, Lean and the 14 Principles.
• Create and maintain a continuous one-piece flow in the wide format finishing area.
• Manage and improve the department through effective use of the Flow and Performance (F&P) board by creating and updating standard work documents and job aids as needed.
• Promote learning and understanding and the use of the 14 principles to improve process and production as part of management methods.
• Establish schedule for all jobs based on relevant criteria to include due date, customer, size of order, availability of components and prioritization of rush jobs.
• Create the master schedule; monitor and modify the schedule to ensure 100% on-time delivery of products to customers.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure that accurate inventory quantities can be used for the creation of the production schedule.
• Work with management to produce and maintain reports on trends, activities, downtime, preventive maintenance and efficiency.
• Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and build a team approach and positive results in Digital Production.
• Interface with purchasing (Plant Office) and vendors to coordinate the delivery of materials and establish reorder points for stock, inventory, and supplies based on tracked usage.
• Maintain a high level of morale among employees through effective leadership and communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
• The minimum education required for this position is a High School diploma or equivalent, with three to five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in digital production.
• Ability to effectively verbally communicate and present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, vendors, and other employees of the organization; excellent communicator.
• Effective written communication skills, the ability to read, analyze, interpret and create short correspondence, memos, reports and business correspondence. Ability to write simple correspondence for a variety of audiences using appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high sense of urgency in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent problem solving, follow-up, decision making, and organizational skills.
• The ability to handle multiple tasks or projects with changing priorities and ability to meet deadlines; flexibility with effective prioritization skills.
• Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
• College degree preferred.
• Ability to use extensive experience, knowledge, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and to handle unique and sometimes complex situations.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Negotiation skills and extensive knowledge of digital machine capabilities and digital printing processes; Supplier /vendor knowledge.
• Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, customers, sales representatives, and employees.
