Our Opportunity:
WMAL / Washington DC seeks a fulltime Drive-time News Anchor/Reporter for our busy newsroom in the Nation’s Capital. Our current longtime anchor is retiring. The successful candidate will have experience working in an aggressive news operation, focused on Breaking News and local issues, such as transportation, local government, education, politics, etc. The position includes a combination of regular anchor shifts, and some reporting assignments.
Applicants should demonstrate strong anchoring skills, unquestioned news judgement, as well as solid writing ability, creative use of audio, field production techniques, and experience working quickly and accurately in breaking news situations.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three year’s experience both anchoring and reporting in a professional news environment. Familiarity with current digital production techniques a must, and experience in website editing is preferred.
