Fall 2018 Internship at The Orchard - Must Receive School Credit

An internship at The Orchard offers students a unique hands-on experience in the exciting and fast-growing field of media distribution. We are currently seeking interns who are bright, creative, ambitious, self-starters with a winning attitude. Interns must be willing to dedicate 16-30 hours per week any time during the semester and must receive credit from an accredited university in exchange for completing the internship.

Music
Sync & Licensing Internship - New York, NY
As a Sync Intern you will learn how to submit music for pitches in Film, TV, Advertising and Video Games. You’ll help complete submissions while learning about different facets of music licensing including publishing, performance Rights Organizations, and proper negotiation techniques, while bearing business objectives in mind. You’ll learn how to identify, investigate, and validate opportunities and ultimately assist in pitching music tracks to music supervisors, Broadcast networks, Film companies and Video Games.
Based in our New York office, you’ll learn how music pitches are received, processed and submitted, while still respecting individual branding requirements. You’ll be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on a number of projects, and help you develop business skills.
Retail Marketing Internship - New York, NY
Aa a Retail Marketing Intern you will learn how to generate awareness and demand in the online retail space for The Orchard's top artists and labels. In addition to advising our labels and artist representatives on a release - by - release basis, we also work with our expansive catalog to promote and sell our releases through creative marketing opportunities. Based in our New York office, you will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects.
Interactive Marketing Internship - New York, NY
As an Interactive Marketing Intern you will learn how to generate awareness and demand in the online space for The Orchard's top artists and labels. This team works directly with major online music portals and editorial outlets to secure features and promotions for some of The Orchard's most recognizable names. Working on a release-by-release basis, you will learn how the team advises labels and artist representatives on social media best practices, applies fan-engagement tools, and directs overall representation of the artist and/or release across the web, with a mind toward harnessing audiences and empowering and rewarding fans. You will gain hands-on experience in research, analytics and social networking activity, as well as enjoy the opportunity to contribute to campaigns based on experience and quality of work. Projects will include spearheading audience-building initiatives on Spotify through playlist curation and outreach for high-priority artists, which will require editorial prowess and analytical skills. Candidates should be competent writers, avid blog readers, social media trend-watchers, and responsible over-achievers.
Client Relations- Label Management - Frontline Internship - New York, NY
As a Label Management Intern you will learn how to create marketing reports for priority releases, analyze sales and implement technical release changes using The Orchard's system.
The label management team is an important team as they are the main conduit between our labels and the different services that The Orchard offers. This is a well-rounded group who manages a variety of relationships by working with every department.
As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to sit on weekly calls with our labels, as well as other department meetings to help help solve problems and build marketing campaigns by collecting information and using data. You'll also learn the ins and outs of the music industry, as well as music distribution as a whole by interacting with other departments to see how their work directly impacts each release.
Based in our New York office, you’ll be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects
Video Services- Rights Management Internship - New York, NY
As a Rights Management Intern in the Video Services department you will learn about YouTube’s Content Management System (CMS), Content ID, and The Orchard’s internal tools, as well as the ways that a YouTube partner like The Orchard manages its clients’ rights and grows revenue. The Rights team is focused on managing The Orchard’s digital audio and video assets on YouTube and other short-form video platforms. Projects include assisting the team with quality assurance for The Orchard’s assets within YouTube’s CMS, in addition to researching and resolving issues related to master rights on YouTube and at performance rights societies. You will be paired with a supervisor who will help you learn how the platform works as well as the skills needed for each project.
Performance Rights Services Internship - New York, NY
As an Operations Intern in the Performance Rights Services department you will gain hands-on experience in the delivery, registration and collection of our client’s royalty revenue globally. You will also learn and apply the knowledge gained from studies related to the rapidly growing world of performance rights! Based in our New York office, you will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects.
Candidates should be problem solvers who are very curious and eager to identify and tackle any challenge put in front of you. In addition, candidates should also be excellent communicators who enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Technology
Interactive Design Internship - New York, NY
As an Interactive Design Intern you will learn how to create awesome designs for our marketing campaigns. Based in our New York office, you will gain experience by assisting our team of Interactive Designers on a wide range of design projects. Learning opportunities include Motion Graphics, Html/Css/Javascript, Branding, Product Design, UX/UI and Interactive Design. If you are interested in this position please provide a portfolio of your web and graphic design work.
Digital Operations Internship - New York, NY
As a Digital Operations Intern you will work closely with department coordinators in order to learn how digital products are ingested, stored, processed and transmitted to global retailers. You will learn how to assist the team by handling storage, encoding, and transmission of digital assets, as well as working with international partners to establish and maintain delivery feeds. Based in our New York office, you will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects.
Candidates should have basic knowledge of Excel, SQL, and XML.
Film
Film & TV Operations Internship - New York, NY
As a Film & TV Operations Intern you will gain insight into the life of a film within a distribution company's supply chain while learning how to deliver our film and TV catalog to our partners, specifically Amazon Prime. Projects include creating custom artwork, delivering audio/visual assets, and setting up pages that will ultimately be seen by consumers.
Based in our New York office, you’ll learn the technical knowledge required to distribute content across an array of platforms. You’ll be part of a team distributing content and troubleshooting issues that arise within that process. You will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects.
Candidates should be proficient in Adobe Photoshop.
Theatrical Marketing & Publicity Internship - Los Angeles, CA
As a Publicity Intern you will learn how to brainstorm and create grassroots campaigns, review creative publicity assets, and research press outlets and contacts. You will gain hands-on experience creating marketing publicity that will be shared with clients, as well as creating promotional stunts for catalogue titles. Based in LA, you will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects. Candidates should be proficient in MS Office and Google Applications. Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus, along with passion for film and television!
Sales & Marketing Internship - Los Angeles, CA
As a Sales & Marketing Intern you will learn how to brainstorm on marketing and social media plans, conduct research on trends, and track social support of titles on key social media platforms. Based in LA, you will be paired with a mentor, who will work closely with you to give detailed guidance on projects. Under the mentorship of your supervisor, you will gain hands-on experience tracking competitive landscape on digital and cable platforms, as well as creating and distributing screening links for press, marketers, etc. Candidates should have basic knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop, along with a passion for film!
Qualifications
You must be a college student enrolled in a class and receiving credit specifically for this internship. Interns will need to provide documentation verifying enrollment prior to their start date.
