Description
The E.W. Scripps Company is currently looking for a dynamic, hardworking, experienced and creative Weekend Anchor, MMJ to join our Regional Emmy® winning NBC affiliate team at WGBA in Green Bay, WI. The city is famous for its sports history and the Green Bay Packers, as well as its contagious local spirit and personality.
As a member of this highly collaborative team in Green Bay, you will share in the research, production, and delivery of accurate news reports for the weekend newscasts and well as prepare and report compelling news stories throughout the week.
Key activities
• Research, develop, and organize newscasts or local programs; responsible for writing, story development, and showcasing.
• Works closely with news/local program managers and news director to determine content needs.
• Responsible for oversite of live broadcast and up to the minute editorial discussions.
• Enhance content of the rundown with graphics, video, research, and station branding.
• Report live on location from various news events.
• Post content to stations websites.
• Perform various community service activities for station, including performing as master of ceremonies for public service events and as host/hostess for station events.
• Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
• Perform other duties as needed and as directed by News Leadership.
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Four-year college degree preferred.
• At least 6 years on camera experience.
Skills & Abilities
• Must connect on camera with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to cultivate sources and mine stories.
• Excellent conversational and creative writing skills.
• Knowledge of newsroom computers, databases & equipment strongly preferred.
• Must demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.
• Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well under intense pressure and deadlines.
• Must have good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel law.
• Must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
Work environment
• Deadline driven and faced-paced newsroom.
• Must have a valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and provide proof of insurance.
