At IMAX our internships offer visibility, hands-on learning, and practical work experience in a fun, friendly environment. We are committed to challenging and developing creative, hardworking students through a variety of interesting projects and responsibilities to supplement the student’s classroom training. Interns are encouraged to explore, develop and share their ideas while gaining valuable experience in the entertainment industry.
The IT Service Desk Intern will provide technical support and troubleshooting services to corporate end-users who need assistance with their computer hardware or software. This is a front-line team position with opportunity for exposure to all aspects of IMAX’s business.
What you’ll be doing:
• Imaging computers, installing application software, installing office productivity suite software
• Supporting a wide variety of hardware devices - workstations, laptops, tablets, phones
• Providing basic “how to” assistance for productivity suite software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
• Working with tape backups, organizing tapes for offsite storage
• Assist with hardware and software incidents regarding performance, poor response and system configuration
• Providing desk side support for local users and remote assistance for global users
• Providing recovery assistance for lost or corrupt files
• Password resets, account activations and deactivations
• Documenting system configurations, developing work aids
• Other duties as assigned
What we’re looking for:
• Good working knowledge of Windows platforms
• Strong experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, predominantly client side
• Hands on experience with Microsoft infrastructure software (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
• Exposure to Apple and Mac technologies considered an asset
• Demonstrated hardware/software troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and inter-personal presentation skills
• Customer service focus – technically oriented while maintaining the ability to positively interact with non-technical clients
