Finance Manager, Harper’s BAZAAR
Position Profile
Title: Finance Manager
Overview
Harper’s BAZAAR seeks a Temporary Finance Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-day financial duties for both the magazine and for Harper’s Bazaar e-commerce venture, ShopBAZAAR. The Finance Manager will report to the General Manager of Harper’s BAZAAR.
This position is a temporary position with a possibility of converting to full-time in the future.

Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
• Approve the operational advertising expenses of the magazine and ecommerce, with some oversight of edit.
• Be main contact to resolve problems with accounts payable, and T&E departments
• Review and code all expense reports
• Prepare miscellaneous billing for events and sponsorship programs
• Ensure that all corporate financial and operational policies and procedures are followed
• Liaison for office management issues (office equipment, supplies, etc)
• Administration of all Human Resource procedures and HR Systems; approve timesheets for staff and freelance staff.
• Prepare annual sales quotas and commissions earned
• Track expenses to budget; prepare variance analysis as needed
• Monthly financial reviews with the General Manager to assess results and determine actions required to maintain objectives.
• Compilation of annual business plan working with the General Manager to make sure corporate financial objectives are met
• Monthly revisions of business plan (PM forecasting)
• Oversight of ShopBAZAAR P&L
• Assist with other duties as needed
Key Qualifications
• Ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of magazine economics such as rate base management, ad rate realization and cost controls.
• A thorough knowledge of accounting and how it impacts the financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and certain balance sheet accounts
• Must be able to maintain highly confidential information in a professional manner
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate well with key personnel including:
◦ Financial operations (in both Charlotte and New York)
◦ Consumer Marketing
◦ Editorial
◦ Human Resources
◦ General Office Services
◦ General Management
◦ IT department
• Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
• Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work under shifting and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, or accounting
• Must have five (5) years’ experience in finance
