Description
KGTV, San Diego's ABC affiliate, is on the hunt for a passionate Assignment Editor/Producer. If you love news and are a great storyteller, we want to speak with you ASAP. In this position you will be responsible for scouting and researching stories, managing newsroom assignments and field crews, writing great stories, and producing digital content for our web, mobile, and social platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify breaking news in real time and aggressively gather facts for cross-platform distribution
• Monitor station email, scanners and Twitter feeds to stay ahead of stories as they break in the community
• Help foster a culture of enterprise news gathering by assisting in finding stories, doing research and tracking story ideas and news tips in assignment desk computer systems
• Supervise the location of field crews, as well as their progress executing on their story assignments, making adjustments as news warrants
• Write and edit online story content, push alerts, and social media posts as necessary
• Update and interact with fans and followers on social media
• Maintain an updated understanding of station's SEO best practices for producing online content
• Coordinate news editorial and technical staff to facilitate the migration of multimedia content to new media platforms, including video, audio, still photos and graphics
• Perform other duties as needed and as directed by news management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
