JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Reporter with strong editorial judgment to drive page views to our website. In this role, you will report and aggregate stories from a wide range of sources and cover breaking news. You will play a critical role in helping Foxnews.com continue to be a must-click destination for morning commuters. are a skilled and fast writer with strong AP Style skills and demonstrate no difficulty working in a fast pace, deadline driven, news environment.
You may be assigned one of the following shift:
Tuesday – Saturday, Sunday – Thursday, or Monday – Friday
10:30PM – 6:30AM EST/ 7:30PM – 3:30AM PST
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conceptualize and execute original reporting, including long-term projects when possible, and conduct interviews (mostly by phone or email)
• Report breaking news events that occur during the overnight hours, write quickly and precisely to help solidify Fox News as the go-to site for developing stories
• Scour national and international media for stories that resonate with FoxNews.com’s audience
• Aggregate stories with complete and proper attribution
• Present all stories (original, breaking and aggregated) in an accessible, consistent and compelling style
• Fill in to program the home page on an as needed basis
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• A Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience covering the news
• A firm grasp of current events and a desire to be precise, quick and accurate in presenting the news to the vast FoxNews.com audience
• Knowledge of AP style
• Willingness to work closely with editors and fellow reporters, including frequent coloration on stories
• Flexibility to fill in on other shifts when demanded by breaking news or other editorial responsibilities
