Job Summary
This position utilizes understanding of CenturyLink target customer needs, competitive environment, business opportunities and CenturyLink global product line and practices. The Senior Business Development Manager is accountable for CenturyLink professional services solution strategy for scoping solution and level of effort (LoE), pricing and margins, as well as overall revenue growth, bookings, and profitability. Professional services primarily focus on Design & Transition/Migration, Service Management, Custom Implementation and Steady State Operations & Maintenance, Remote Infrastructure Monitoring and Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Cloud Enablement, and Systems/Strategic Consulting.
Responsibilities include assisting the sales organization in the identification of potential opportunities for professional services at new prospects as well as existing customers, proposing and closing solutions to new business opportunities, creation and refinement of solutions that include professional services, creation of proposals and RFP responses, Statements of Work, pricing, customer negotiations and transitioning to the delivery teams.
Job Description
Principal Duties (Essential Functions)
• Work with sales to grow professional services revenue and bookings in accordance with CenturyLink quarterly and annual goals
• In collaboration with Sales, identify and capture revenue/cross-sell/upsell opportunities for new and existing customers
• Identify, understand and solve complex professional service requirements and issues faced by internal and external customers and prospects
• Develop services solutions utilizing CenturyLink capabilities and eco system partners’ capabilities
• Present solutions and approaches effectively to customer and internal executives
• Communicate effectively with customers, peers, superiors and subordinates
• Write Statement of Work and pricing negotiations with customers as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Interface with Sales and account management resources to identify and refine new opportunities
• Meet with existing customers and new sales prospects to effectively pitch CenturyLink professional services capabilities and proposed solutions
• Interface with various CenturyLink teams including, Marketing, Procurement, Service Delivery, Legal, Contracts, Billing, Product Management, Engineering etc. as required
• Educate Sales on professional services and solutions portfolio periodically, such as through brown-bag sessions
• Attend sales team meetings periodically
• Contribute to creation of reusable, knowledge artifacts for the professional services team
• Pre-sales Support
◦ Scope and Baseline services requirements
◦ Create/Vet proposed solutions and approaches with different internal and external delivery teams
◦ Develop Staffing Level of Efforts (LOE) and Resource Requirements utilizing estimation tools and/or facilitating workshops with delivery owners
◦ Develop business strategy, risk and profitability matrix for opportunities
◦ Develop Statements of Work based on Scope, Requirements and the relevant Service Offering
◦ Negotiate appropriate SLA/SLO terms, Financial terms and other operationally material aspects of a SOW
• Customer Experience
◦ Proposal turnaround per commitments made
◦ Quality of proposal and completeness of solution
• System Updates
◦ Pipeline inspection and weekly updates to the internal systems of record
◦ Updating the team document repositories with appropriate artifacts
◦ Updating the professional services administration modules
Qualifications
Required:
• Master’s Degree in Science / Technology / Management or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 15+ years progressive experience, including 3 to 5 years in consulting/business development, technical management and/or operational experience.
• Excellent planning, decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a high paced environment with changing priorities, and work a consistent stream of incoming opportunities, one after the other, and produce statement of works.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to change.
• Ability to learn quickly utilizing fundamental concepts and first principles.
• Ability to juggle multiple parallel opportunities, adept at multi-tasking.
• Ability to provide direction, mentoring and develop collaterals
• Ability to efficiently utilize MS Office Suite of Applications specially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent self-motivation, as well as team motivation.
• Proven track record of professional services solution sales and pre-sales support.
• Detail oriented in solution development and SOW creation following SMART framework.
• Ability to utilize a consultative mindset to probe and understand customer requirements and then stitch together an appropriate solution covering one or more of the standard/non-standard professional services offerings that CenturyLink can offer.
Preferred:
• Demonstrated level of success in the pre-sales support to consulting and professional services opportunities, as individual contributors
• Industry knowledge of migrations, SLAs, contract terms, service management and reviews, cloud, (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS) platforms (AWS, Azure etc.) managed hosting, colocation, datacenter operations, ITIL/ITSM and IT Services such as ITO, Design & Transition/Migration, BCDR, Strategic Consulting, ADM, QA, Remote Infrastructure Management etc.
