JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox Sports Media Group (FSMG) is looking for a Manager, Accounting to work in the General Accounting group. The manager is responsible for overseeing rights and production, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, financial system maintenance, and ad hoc projects. The individual will supervise, train and develop staff. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving monthly rights and production journal entries, fixed asset activity and reconciliations along with reviewing and approving bank reconciliations. Other responsibilities include coordinating audit requests with internal and external auditors and the Fox internal tax department. The individual must be detailed oriented, pro-active, extremely organized, focused, and possess strong managerial, analytical and technical skills. Individual must be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. This person must be able to communicate well and interact confidentially with management and staff levels and will serve as a back-up for the Director.
This candidate should be able to work independently and strive to resolve issues and complete tasks with minimal supervision. This position reports to the Executive Director, Sports Reporting and is in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and train staff
• Responsible for rights and production close process for the National Networks
• Oversee/Review monthly rights amortization, production flash accruals and talent amortization
• Interact directly with Finance group to obtain proposed journal entries, resolve unusual items or discrepancies/reclassifications and ensure all production and rights schedules are up to date
• Review/approve rights and production related account reconciliations
• Ensure completion of quarterly 21st Century Fox reporting schedules
• Enforce standardization across networks, ensuring consistency in treatment and submissions from Finance to streamline processes
• Act as back up monthly reporting/E1 account maintenance functions
• Oversee fixed asset additions and ensure adherence to company policies
• Review/analyze monthly fixed asset depreciation entries
• Review/approve monthly fixed asset reconciliations
• Ensure CAS EA and CPRs are processed timely
• Review and approve bank reconciliations including the Main disbursement and Main depository accounts
• Enterprise One Chart of account maintenance including reviewing account requests
• Active role in implementing process improvements and internal controls testing to ensure compliance with Company policy and SOX 404
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Responsible for ad hoc general accounting, reporting, analysis and/or other projects as required
Qualifications
• Detail oriented while maintaining efficiency
• Must be able to work efficiently with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment, under minimal supervision, and ability to effectively meet tight deadlines
• Bachelor degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting
• At least 5+ years accounting experience is required – general accounting skills are a plus
• CPA preferred
• Strong PC skills including intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management
• Knowledge of JD Edwards Enterprise One or other ERP general ledger system a plus
• Knowledge of Hubble a plus
• The ability to work independently following proscribed schedules and be resourceful.
