Requirements
Position Description:
The Graphic Designer will primarily be responsible for creating designs to support upcoming and current St. Martin’s Press titles. As a member of the Creative Services Department, which primarily services St. Martin’s Press, this individual will work within a team of designers to create digital assets including but not limited to digital ads, designed emails, social media assets, Advance Reader Copy packaging, print advertisements and print promotional materials.
Major Responsibilities:
• Develop creative and unique digital design solutions for upcoming and current titles, including Web and Mobile ads, digital sell sheets, social media assets, designed emails, etc.
• Develop creative and unique print design solutions for upcoming and current titles, including Advance Reader Copy editions, printed brochures and sell sheets
• Web site design (subject to skill and interest level)
• Video creation and editing (subject to skill level)
Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Very strong illustration, conceptualization and typography skills.
• Proven and strong understanding of current practices in graphic design.
• Proven track record of multi-tasking and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Working knowledge of coding, HTML/CSS, HTML5
• Very strong illustration, conceptualization and typography skills.
• Must enjoy designing and strive to stay on top of current trends and practices.
• Knowledge in video editing; specifically Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro is a plus.
• Knowledge in front-end and web development a plus.
• Experience Needed:
• 2+ years as a graphic designer.
• Comfort working both independently and collaboratively with a group of designers as needed.
Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Graphic Design, Web Development or other related field or equivalent work experience.
