JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox Networks Group has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Human Resources to support National Geographic Partners, the newly expanded joint-venture between 21st Century Fox and the National Geographic Society. This expanded partnership will provide an opportunity for an energetic, forward-thinking and seasoned HR professional to provide management support and counsel to employee groups supporting National Geographic’s iconic brand and dynamic businesses including its cable channels, its 130-year-old magazine, its digital and social platforms, maps, travel and other media.
Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, and based at National Geographic Partners’ corporate headquarters in Washington, DC, the Director of Human Resources will provide generalist support including performance management, organizational and management development, employee relations, management and employee coaching, headcount/budget tracking and managing various HR issues. The Director of Human Resources will communicate regularly with NY-based HR staff, as well as Shared Services support departments in Los Angeles (Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Organizational Development & Training), Fox Group Legal, client management team, HR colleagues and general management.
Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day Generalist HR issues for assigned client groups and partner with the Business Leader on issues related to Employment, Employee relations, compensation, benefits and training and development, ensuring that timely, appropriate and consistent action is taken.
• Provide HR and organizational support and counsel to management and individual client groups by recommending and drafting performance management plans, conducting departmental organizational overviews, staff development and employee relations.
• Train managers and employees on annual processes such as reviews, performance feedback and goal setting.
• Keep finger on the pulse of the morale in the groups. Keep pace with the dynamic and ever changing culture and organizational changes within the business.
• Track reason for turnover and make suggestions on how to change or improve current employee experience.
• Participate in Company, HR and community events as well as employee recognition events.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years HR experience required, demonstrating an excellent knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws in order to ascertain the correct action and respond to issues as they arise.
• Experience providing HR support for a large organization required, with experience in the entertainment, media or publishing businesses preferred.
• Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal required, with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels.
• Must be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with HR team, leaders, and employees at all levels.
• Must possess business savvy, demonstrate a strategic focus and sense of urgency, with the ability to exercise strong influence and negotiation skills.
• Start-up environment mentality a plus.
• Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills required.
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience working with Visio, Workday, and PeopleSoft systems preferred.
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining poise and focus.
