Overview
The Baltimore Sun Media Group, Baltimore's leading media company, is seeking a driven, digitally savvy outside media sales professional to work with major accounts.
As an outside sales representative for The Baltimore Sun Media Group
• Be responsible for aggressive development of new clients and growing existing business. Will proactively develop new business prospects.
• Meet with prospective and current clients to close direct sales of products and/or services in order to meet individual/team goals and the organization's business objectives.
• Create, monitor and revise lead generation plans to ensure a substantive sales opportunity pipeline.
• Develop strategic solutions that meet the unique needs of each client
• Act as a digital marketing consultant to local and regional businesses
• Work collaboratively with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities
• Increase the company’s revenue with new and existing clients by maximizing budget with all Baltimore Sun Media Group products and develop multi-channel solutions.
• Serve as the customer’s primary point of contact for print, digital, events and out of home solutions.
• Manages key executive relationship at the account and ad agencies when applicable. Develops comprehensive advertising programs and often negotiates contacts with headquarter buyer.
• Develop strong customer relationships at all levels (local, regional and national).
• Territory growth strategies include stealing share, preprint optimization, pursuing customer data, leveraging Baltimore Sun Media Group product line, utilizing CMR data to quantify opportunities, developing bundled online/print solutions, and developing ALL digital relationships on client/agency side and pursuing mobile/digital budgets.
• Core responsibilities include categories/major new business development, marketing expertise, strong presentation skills, strategic and innovative thinking.
• Utilize support roles, when necessary, in order to maximize sales time and effort and ensure client has a good experience with program execution. Effectively manage client media plan with a high level of accuracy.
• Actively communicate territory opportunities and challenges with Director of Advertising.
Qualifications
The position requires someone who excels in a fast paced deadline oriented intensive atmosphere. Applicants needs to be highly organized, self-motivated with a positive attitude, and thrive on setting and reaching new goals.
• Minimum of 3-5 years outside sales experience (media sales is required)
• College degree or equivalent sales experience
• Working knowledge and experience utilizing a CRM and Microsoft Office products to manage day to day activitiesDemonstrated success in meeting revenue goals
• Industry and market knowledge a plus, print, digital, and mobile platform knowledge and skills preferred
• Excellent analytical, written, oral, communication and presentation skills
• Strong customer service, problem solving, time management and financial business acumen skills
• Effective relationship-building skills
• Research and build a database of potential leads or existing clients
• Motivated, persuasive and consultative with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Travel may be necessary
• Requires a valid driver’s license
