Job Purpose
The Senior Tax Accountant at Liberty Latin America (LLA) will join a tax department which is building a best-in-class team to manage the worldwide tax profile of our multinational company which operates in a unique tax region of the world. The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Director of Tax Accounting and Reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare the income tax provision calculations for the LLA corporate and subsidiary entities.
• Prepare memos describing tax technical positions within the corporate and subsidiary structure.
• Support the quarterly and year-end income tax provision calculations of various international subsidiary business units by providing preparation and/or review as needed. Most significantly, collaborate with a tax department of 8 individuals in Miami who oversee numerous Caribbean and LATAM subsidiary tax profiles.
• Compile quarterly and year-end income tax provision data from the worldwide group to prepare SEC and other public reporting disclosures.
• Provide support in the documentation and explanation of calculations and disclosures to the external audit team.
• Assist in the implementation and execution of documentation and internal control obligations under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
• Assist with project management of the global income tax compliance outsourcing effort.
• Regularly collect and interpret tax data from across markets to build meaningful cash tax projections and provide tax liquidity updates to the tax team and executive management.
• Prepare monthly income tax accounting guidance to be issued to our subsidiaries aimed at resolving any complications arising from certain accounting or reporting elements across numerous countries.
• Assist in certain technical research projects to support both corporate-level tax planning and strategy as well as transfer pricing initiatives.
• Complete special projects as directed by the Director of Tax Accounting and Reporting.
Preferred Education/Qualifications
• BSBA or equivalent 4-year college degree, with an accounting major, and potentially an emphasis in tax.
• Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
• 3-5 years public accounting (Big 4) and/or industry experience, specifically in corporate tax.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Experience with OneSource Income Tax software is preferred, but not mandated.
• Experience working with LATAM and Caribbean countries is preferred, but not mandated.
• Experience with SEC reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, demanding and dynamic environment.
• Strong written, oral, and analytical skills with an ability to interpret data and concisely articulate technical information.
• Energetic with a strong work ethic, high personal standard of ethical conduct and ability to securely handle confidential information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Internal
• Willingness to travel to relevant operational sites, including international.
• Willingness and professional ability to engage and interact with accounting consolidations, financial reporting, legal and investor relations departments.
