Simon and Schuster is looking for an energetic, strategically minded, creative candidate to help design and execute the marketing campaigns for approximately thirty Simon & Schuster books each year with an emphasis in literary fiction and narrative non-fiction.
Reporting to the VP, Associate Publisher, the Associate Marketing Manager will work on a team with editors, publicists, and the publishing office to acquire, plan publishing campaigns, and launch books for one of the most venerable book imprints in the industry.
Specific duties include:
• Develop marketing plans and prepare presentation materials for the sales force.
• Advise authors on a content strategy that will grow their online presence via their profiles on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin
• Supervise creative for ads and promotional items
• Coordinate e-mail marketing efforts with the Simon & Schuster digital marketing group
• Develop additional content for consumer marketing efforts including author videos, Q&A’s, and original essays for placement on blogs and web sites
• Conduct research on niche audiences and coordinate promotions with key influencers in these niche communities.
• Prepare marketing proposals for potential acquisitions
• Integrate academic and FYE marketing initiatives into overall marketing campaigns
Qualifications:
College degree with a minimum 2 years’ experience in trade book publishing required, preferably in marketing, sales, or publicity. Candidates must have strong organization and communication skills as well as an intuitive sense for how to present a book or book topic so it appeals to its intended audience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is expected. Experience with graphic design software a plus.
