Outside Sales Rep - Valumail
Overview
Position Summary
Conducts consultative selling process by directly closing sales of products and/or services in order to meet goals and the organization’s business objective. Primary focus is on development of new business and growing existing business accounts.
The Hartford Courant Media Group is looking for an experienced, digitally savvy media sales professional to join our ValuMail team!
Founded in 1988, Courant ValuMail is delivered via the US Postal Service to more approximately 1.2 million households within Connecticut and Massachusetts. ValuMail offers 100% coverage, the flexibility to target by zip zones, and shared cost of distribution with numerous quality advertisers. Specialty advertising products that are delivered in a “wrap” by US Postal Service. By using our shared-mail product, ValuMail, advertisers can reach almost every household in their market area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop new business opportunities while identifying client ad sales opportunities; utilize strong lead generation capabilities to successfully close clients.
• Account management of a small to medium book of business including service of existing relationships and development of new opportunities to grow digital and print revenue.
• Utilize consultative sales approach to represent solutions across the full portfolio of tronc solutions.
• Foster and develop professional relationships within the community and client organizations by attending community, chamber, industry and client functions.
• Identify customer needs through pre-call planning, utilization of marketing resources, competitive analysis, and customer feedback, in order to connect meaningful media solutions.
• Capable of understanding the account base and related industries to help identify trends and patterns within specific verticals.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
Minimum Qualifications
• Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent commensurate with experience
• 6 mo – 1 year prior sales experience
• Effective relationship-building skills
• Demonstrated success in meeting revenue goals
• Self-starter, possess high energy, creative and analytical skills
• Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Local travel is necessary
