The Supervisor for Design will be responsible for all Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC )and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network survey and design for plant additions, upgrades and extensions with the stated Service Level Agreement (SLA). This position is responsible to direct subscriber requests through survey, design and cost estimating towards the release of units to the Altice USA Sales organization for required approvals prior to packaging and forwarding of completed residential, commercial, and municipal units to construction via Engineering Track Systems (ETS). You will lead the survey for routing and planning of the FTTH/HFC/Fiber infrastructure. System design and topology must ensure the accurate deployment of WiFi AP placement and coverage. Understanding of the WiFi- topology to ensure optimal coverage of defined areas. Coordinates with Altice USA engineering departments, Fiber, Lightpath, Construction, property owners, sales departments, builders, contractors and where required Utilities for project design completion. In addition, this role will be responsible for the management of NWM coax, fiber, WiFi Mapping data; as builds, plots, etc. and the coordination of data flow in PNI/GIS mapping system; while ensuring updates to support field my World deployments. Maintenance of the GIS technologies to support NOC and field activities.
• Develop, justify and manage to the approved budget for capital and operational spending, identify and document any variances to final cost and budget.
• Manage the survey, design, and project cost for all residential, commercial and municipal requests for servicee.
• Manage all contractors and ensure accurate invoicing and contract compliance
• Manage the planning and routing of the HFC and Fiber Networks.
• Manage the survey and design in adherence to antenna propagation guidelines for deployment of the on-strand, venue, and off-strand deployments.
• Verify node information regularly for split and replacements; home count, segmentation, new design topology.
• Reconcile node information across departments: design, (PNI), NOC, B&C, fiber records, to ensure data sets align for field accuracy.
• Identify and facilitate training and career development to all related staff..
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the department, is directly involved with and exercises independent judgment with respect to the following:
• Interviews candidates for open positions and makes recommendations for hire, rehire, or promotions.
• Reviews and approves employee schedules, which includes requested time off and ensures sufficient staffing levels through scheduling and assignment of overtime as needed.
• Coaches and counsels employees in the area of conflict resolution with internal and external customers.
• Makes initial determination regarding whether an employee under his/her direction and control should be counseled and/or disciplined and makes recommendations as to the nature of the discipline regarding the same, including the issues of corrective actions and Performance Improvement Plans.
• Assigns work to employees based on the specific skills, training, experience and availability of the individuals under his/her direction and control and ultimately is responsible for the completion of said assignments.
• Assesses, prioritizes and alters work assignments of direct reports on a day-to-day basis as operational needs require.
• As needed, conduct periodic meetings with direct reports to provide: training on proper techniques, services, and monthly progress reports.
• Prepares, conducts, or gives input to performance evaluations for employees under his/her direction which is considered by the Company in determining annual merit increases.
• As needed, makes recommendations for termination based on employee’s performance and/or behavior.
• Associate’s degree preferred; minimum of three years related CATV design experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
• Possess competencies in teamwork, integrity, flexibility, and concern for excellence. Proven leadership skills.
• Extensive knowledge of PC software applications including Windows and MS Office and CAD products, GIS related tools: PNI Smallworld..
• Knowledge of effective design technique and procedures and the demonstrated capacity to implement MDU, aerial, underground for coax and fiber designs/construction
