The Role
The Business Technology Solutions (BTS) Business Analyst is a member of a highly-motivated BTS team responsible for partnering with multiple tech and business divisions to evaluate, understand and deliver solutions for complex business problems. The team works as the strategic interface with assigned business divisions for the purpose of business-tech strategy development, solutions delivery, service management, risk management and relationship management. The BTS team provides highly-valued strategic consulting level support and guidance throughout key business technology initiatives.
The Finance Business Analyst is a full-time position responsible for analyzing finance business problems and implementing solutions in our ERP platform. The business analyst supports the user community, elicit, manage requirements and specifications as well as execute a variety of testing disciplines (test plans, scripts, unit testing and user acceptance) to drive development and validate results.
The Finance Business Analyst will report to the BTS Enterprise Services Manager within the Business Technology Solutions Global Operations group and act as a business relationship management function as described below.
Responsibilities
• Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, from user groups and project stakeholders.
• Create and manage backlog of items by documenting business requirements and translating into technical specifications for solution implementation.
• Manage requirements prioritization, implementation estimation and dependencies; traceability from business capability to test case.
• Process/Workflow analysis; work with project teams to gather, analyze and compile business process needs.
• Create process, models, specifications, diagrams and charts on current business processes and workflows.
• Support prioritization of Tech initiatives based on the division’s needs/strategy, Tech workload and budget.
• Promote business knowledge of Tech process, roles, and procedures to ensure the best possible outcomes.
• Support on solution options analysis, risks evaluation and impacts on end-user solutions and services, business processes/workflows and system priorities.
• Participates in planning sessions with BTS team members.
• Support the development of business cases and contribute to the “project greenlight” process, including cost benefit analyses.
• Build a trusted relationship with multiple roles.
• Partner with BTS and Service Mangers to deliver Tech solutions to further CAA’s goals, all while managing customer expectations around what Tech can deliver.
• Analyze technology trends to determine impact to the achievement of BTS goals.
• Support the development of project plans and project charters.
• Support the project management process, reporting on status, accomplishments and risks.
• Develop test plans and test case scenarios based on project requirements.
• Assist and conduct user acceptance testing.
• Research and document issues / bugs before reporting these to the developers.
• Supports change management activities; training and user support.
• Supports the BTS manager in monitoring and reporting on escalated issues.
• Works collaboratively with service managers to develop clear and concise communications with respects to incidents, problems, and change management as needed.
Required Capabilities
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience implementing ERP applications with specific knowledge of finance and accounting modules.
• Experience using Dynamics AX 2012 or Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
• Advanced Excel skills, in particular around data validation, pivot tables and reporting financial data.
• Expert in business workflow modeling.
• Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
• Demonstrate initiative and ownership of tasks and projects.
• Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments.
• Ability to present complex problems in simple terms with great presentation skills.
• Experience extracting insights from data.
• Experience in Agile or waterfall SDLC.
• Experience using requirements management tools and test management tools.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting.
• Thorough understanding of source control, unit testing, and continuous integration practices.
• Possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
• Attention to detail to be vigilant in analysis to come to correct conclusions.
• Be a team player who is approachable and supportive; able to contribute ideas and recommendations.
