SUMMARY
The Marketing Coordinator assists the Marketing team in all efforts to position and promote brands, products and events of Michigan.com, Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News across all platforms and channels.The Marketing Coordinator assists in ad placement, public relations, event coordination and audience growth strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The specific information provided below is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the employee assigned to this position.This description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
• Coordinate the placement, trafficking and managing all internal promotional ad schedules. These duties include coordinating in paper ad schedules for various programs and initiatives and works with Marketing Specialists to resolve any conflicts with other stakeholders. Coordinator will also work on trafficking ads on digital platforms and outdoor campaigns.
• Complete monthly tracking reports and analysis for all promotional ads.
• Coordinate and execute plans for events.This may include on-site activation, giveaways and post event analysis.
• Coordinate execution of promotional and sponsorship agreements.
• Work with graphic designer to turn in job requests for ad campaigns.
• Assist in writing, submitting and follow up on press releases- includes working with current media contacts.
• Maintain a detailed promotional and event calendar to ensure that all plans are in conjunction with the marketing department plans and deadlines. Ensure that deadlines are met.
• Research media coverage and industry trends.
• Assist with the Insider program.
• Work with Event Manager on the coordination of the Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Marathon to including but not limited to:
• Other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.Prefer experience and/or knowledge of media solutions, sales, proven social media skills, social media metrics, marketing campaign development, event marketing, consumer events, ability to apply market research, ability to take current cultural trends and apply them to strategic market development.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Level 4 - High - Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Level 4 - High - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Level 4 - High - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
LICENSES AND Testing The specific information below describes the licenses and testing required for this position.For positions requiring a driver's license and vehicle insurance, employees must maintain current licenses and insurance to be qualified to perform their position.Employees must notify their manager immediately if their license is suspended or revoked or their insurance lapses.
