Job Summary
Skyword has a great opportunity for a VP of Product Management to join the technology team in our high profile scale-up located in downtown Pittsburgh. This role will understand the need for continuous innovation and help to ensure Skyword’s market leadership. The VP, Product Management is responsible for leading the entire product management group, including product managers, technical writers, and UX/UI designers. A successful candidate will have extensive experience collaborating in an agile development environment as well as working cross functionally with Marketing, Sales, Services, and External Customers, and understand how to identify market trends and effectively guide product strategy. Most importantly, a qualified candidate must be innovative!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Senior level management position directing all activities in strategic product management for Skyword’s content marketing solution
• Meets with prospects, customers, and internal staff to solicit and understand strategic and tactical product needs
• Must have a strong ability to translate needs into well defined product specifications
• Leads the feature set definition of product releases and helps define written product specifications and web wireframes
• Leads the creative design team to assure interface definitions meet all applicable usability requirements
• Actively Engages with scrum delivery teams, developers and quality assurance personnel to ensure proper implementation of requirements
• Communicates clear product vision, and motivates scrum teams with product goals
• Manages and prioritizes product backlogs; scopes and monitors project schedules for product releases
• Develop and maintain competitive functionality assessments and gap analysis
• Works closely with industry analysts such as Forrester, SiriusDecisions, and Gartner to assess our industry positioning
• Drives the company's product roadmap team which ensures cross departmental collaboration and input on major product initiatives
• Works closely with Marketing, Support, and Sales departments to ensure proper product education and understanding, and communication
Required Experience
• Minimum of 10 years of product management experience working on diverse Web oriented application development
• Solid experience in the area of online digital marketing and/or advertising for B2B or B2C
• SAAS based application design and development
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or other related field; MBA is a plus
• 10 years of people management
• 5+ years of Agile/Scrum based software development methodologies
Preferred Experience
• Active blogger with strong digital marketing presence and experience
• Experience with JIRA preferred
• Solid experience and understanding in social media including publishing and analytics
Required Skills
• Demonstrated experience in identifying customer and business problems, executing the product vision, writing clear, concise requirements, and leading the execution team to deliver on time and on budget
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Extensive knowledge of web protocols including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Working knowledge of Java and PHP
• Strong knowledge and experience working in an agile product development environment
• Extensive knowledge of user experience design and usability testing
• Experience with market research and competitive analysis
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills (oral, written, active listening, and facilitation)
Working Conditions
The VP, Product Management will work in Skyword’s Pittsburgh office during regular business hours. Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time to Skyword’s Boston office to collaborate with cross functional team members and be an ambassador for the Product Management team, and to industry events to remain abreast of industry changes.
