Job Summary:
Morning Show Prep Writer
Looking for a full time prep writer who can deliver 'rip and readable’ stories that are pristine when it comes to grammar. These should be print-friendly (as they're posted online), but also clean, conversational and ready for air. You also know FCC guidelines like the back of your hand. If you can cut your own audio? All the better.
While you should be able to cross formats (AC/HAC/CHR/Country/Rock/Classic) pretty easily, our focus for this position is someone very knowledgeable in the Classic Rock and Rock arenas on the music side. This person will also be responsible for general entertainment news (Gossip/Movie and TV news) and Weird News.
Please submit resume and a writing sample - three stories: one music, one gossip and one hard news. Whatever you want...just make sure you can deliver the same level of material after hire.

Responsibilities
• Write "radio ready" morning prep content for affiliated station talent to use during their on air shifts.
• Should have strong knowledge of and interest in entertainment news (Gossip/Movie and TV news) and Weird News.
• Undertakes key administrative responsibilities as well as assists in planning and producing live and/or pre-recorded radio prep materials which may include news, music, talk, sports, traffic, and feature productions.
• Generates original ideas, identifies suitable ideas from others, and researches/writes for prep platform.
• Researches information, obtains materials and assists with contacting and scheduling guests.
• Responds to feedback from affiliate talent and Editorial team on story selection and style.
• Recommends and associates appropriate audio and sound files to support stories and features.
• Uses various broadcasting technologies such as soundboards and editing/production software.
Qualifications
• Ability to generate original ideas, and to think creatively about how to communicate them to audiences; has comprehensive knowledge of subjects relevant to specific radio genres
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills; ability to tailor and adapt content for different audiences and platforms
• Knowledgeable of the radio market, different station/program styles, audience demographics
• Knows how to use a variety of recording equipment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to build rapport and draw information from people
• Stress tolerance: ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, and to react quickly to changes
• Ability to plan and organize, set priorities, multi task and meet tight deadlines
• Full knowledge of the law, rules and industry regulations around radio production; knows when it is necessary, and how to acquire, relevant clearances and licenses
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms
Work Experience
• 3+ years’ experience as Radio Producer and/or Assistant in a smaller market or college station
Education
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Radio or Media Production
Certifications
• None required
