We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to help us shape the future of education. This role falls within our Finance team, which includes Treasury, Financial Planning, and Accounting. Our team members apply their expertise and business savvy to ensure that we are aligned to deliver to our customers and investors with fiscal preciseness and operational excellence. The Senior Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager and ensures that all our employees are paid accurately and in a timely manner with the correct withholdings and deductions. Our Payroll team manages all payroll functions and initiatives both domestically and internationally for Blackboard.
As Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation and processing of payroll for Blackboard’s 3,000+ domestic and international employees, reviewing and ensuring accuracy and a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers. You will oversee the setup and audit of employee data, payroll maintenance, and monitoring of data interface with the HRIS System. You will review the work of Payroll Specialists for accuracy and processing, as well as mentor and train new and existing Specialists. You will be leading department internal initiatives and projects with minimal management oversight. You will also research payroll issues including earnings, deductions, taxes, vacation, and expense reimbursement and effectively communicate the results to employees.
Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the development, updating, and monitoring of all internal controls to accurately report financial information for the payroll department. You will partner with HR, Accounting, Tax, Legal, and various other functional areas to provide data and reports as needed and to ensure responsive resolution of employee payroll issues. You will support payroll integration efforts and the onboarding of additional employees joining the company through acquisitions. You will also support various initiatives related to payroll including mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, process improvements, and financial and regulatory audits.
The Candidate:
• Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Is proficient with Ultipro
• Is familiar with multi-state payroll tax withholding
• Has prior relevant payroll experience for a mid-size, global company
• Has experience with international payroll (Latin America, Canada, UK, Europe, China, Australia, etc.)
• Has excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and relationship management
• CPP is a plus!
• Experience with Oracle Fusion Time & Labor is a plus!
