Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Associate Director of Finance to provide financial analysis for and assist in providing financial oversight of the magazine brands within Conde Nast’s “Culture Collection.” Reporting to the VP, Finance & Business Development of the Culture Collection, the Associate Director will work closely with teams in Ad Sales & Marketing, Editorial, Production, Consumer Marketing and Corporate departments on matters related to business planning, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, pricing, and new business analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze revenue, expense and related operating metrics to drive an understanding of financial performance at the Collection and individual brand level, including potential risks and opportunities to the overall business
• Prepare annual operating budget and monthly reforecasts working closely with Editorial, Ad Sales, and Corporate department heads to determine necessary forecast adjustments and budget needs
• Meet with members of the Publishing and Edit teams at the brand level to review year-to-date spend and tracking vs budget
• Conduct monthly variance analyses comparing actual results to budget, forecast and prior year, providing insightful explanations and recommendations
• Review monthly general ledger to ensure correct allocations and coding of revenue and expenses
• Build analytical tools and reports to measure and clearly convey business results and KPI’s to management
• Lead and assist in financial analysis for special projects and perform ad hoc business analyses as required
• Meeting and collaborating with and presenting to Senior Management
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required; CPA or MBA a plus
• 5+ years of relevant work experience showing progression in financial planning or accounting
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly collect, interpret, analyze and present financial data in an accurate and concise manner
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Self-driven with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities under tight timeframes
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• A strategic thinker who is also proficient in modeling in-depth analyses from the ground up using Excel
• Familiarity with Salesforce a plus
