FREELANCE UGLY DOLL DESIGNER - DALLAS
We are looking for skilled VISUAL DEVELOPMENT ARTISTS, with a focus in ENVIRONMENT and PROP DESIGN, to be part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
• Illustrates a passion for animated feature film design work
• Positive, team player who works well with production crew members, including Director, Art Director, Production Designer, Production Management and other Artists across disciplines
• Proven ability to execute production ready artwork, maintaining a consistent style and quality level as directed by the Art Director and Production Designer
• Able to render rough sketches through final, clean line art including set designs, blue prints, schematic and plan views as needed
• Create orthographics for environments, structures and props-including turns using existing approved designs
• Actively participates in technical and artistic problem solving
• Takes direction well and is able to integrate feedback from the Art Director and Production Designer efficiently and effectively
• Self-managing — organized with solid time management skills. Must be able to identify and meet goals. Accountable for meeting productivity expectations and deadlines
• Uses studio’s artwork management, web-based tool for assignments and review process
• Excellent drawing and conceptualization skills with an ability to adapt to established styles
• Advanced understanding of fundamental design skills including composition, perspective, form and use of detail
• Strong knowledge of surface texture, anatomy, and architecture
• Digital illustration skills with an advanced proficiency in Photoshop
• Solid interpersonal and communications skills
Qualifications
• Though not a requirement, candidates with additional skills in color/light and painting would be considered a strong asset
• Bachelor’s (BA) degree in Fine Art, Computer Graphics or related field preferred or equivalent professional experience
• Mid to Senior Level experience required (one or more feature film credits preferred)
• Can demonstrate a diversified portfolio. Artists with strengths in targeted design areas, e.g. strength in environments, but not in props or set dressing will be considered just as equally as artists with skills across design areas
