Position Summary: EMT/Medic will provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and LLCR policies, procedures and protocols. This position requires supervisory duties to include but not limited to scheduling, training, and supply maintenance/ordering. This position also assists the Health Services Supervisor manage employee injuries and workers compensation claims on site. Additionally this position involves dealing directly with the public and insuring that all LLCR medical staff provides the best customer service and medical care possible.
Scope and Responsibilities:
1. Provide BLS (Basic Life Support) emergency medical care to park guests and employees.
2. Respond to, access and treat patients according to LLCR Standard Operating Procedures and LLCR Emergency Treatment Protocols.
3. Must be able to safely lift patients of various size and weight by extremities, stretcher, backboards and properly secure patients for transport.
4. Operation of medical vehicle to and from emergency and non-emergency scenes in a manner appropriate to patient condition. Never in an unsafe manner and to keep in mind the safety of self and others.
5. Coordinates patient care, between local transport agencies and LLCR emergency staff.
6. Maintain appropriate inventories of health services supplies.
7. Completes documentation for all patient contacts, legibly and accurately.
8. Assist with facility inspections and safety audits.
9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, training and reviewing professional publications.
10. Performs all duties in a safe courteous, confidential and professional manner,
always taking into account the well-being of the patient
11. Assure that all staff members abide by confidentiality agreement at all times.
12. Assists Health Services Supervisor/EMT Area Lead with safety or health related awareness.
13. Ensure that park Medics follow SOP’s and treatment protocols.
14. Assists Health Services supervisor with equipment/supply inventory and
inspections.
15. Will assist or teach various training classes as required.
16. Audit park medic paperwork daily and ensure that park/work related injuries are being documented properly.
17. Assist Health Services Supervisor with the interview/assessment of possible new hires as well as current staff performance evaluations.
18. Assist EMT Area lead with OSHA documentation/tracking.
19. Conduct new hire training and assist EMT Area lead with building new hire training program.
20. Assist EMT Area lead with resort wide/department training for frontline staff.
21. Assist EMT Area lead with monthly meetings.
22. Assist Security supervisor and Rangers with initial injury investigation as needed.
Background and Experience:
Requires a minimum of (1) years of BLS experience in the field or clinical environment. (4) years’ experience highly desirable.
Must be knowledgeable of San Diego County BLS protocols
Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products is required
Requires excellent verbal/written communication and reasoning skills
Theme park medical experience is highly desirable
Education:
High School or General Education Diploma (GED) is required. 4 year bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Must be a graduate of a State accredited or recognized EMT/Paramedic program and possess a current California and San Diego County certifications, in good standing.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) is required.
Experience working as a Paramedic, bridged EMT on an ALS unit or regular work on a CCT unit is preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends to support park operations
Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
