JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager of Accounting is responsible for all aspects of general accounting for the various FSMG businesses, supervise, train and develop staff. Responsibilities include reviewing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, maintaining the general ledger for multiple Fox Sports businesses, implementing accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of efficiency and internal controls. Also responsible for preparing the Joint Ventures financial packages. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing monthly close variance analysis, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations, Cash Flows models and JV financials. The Manager will also be responsible for reviewing quarterly reporting requests prepared by staff, as well as directly preparing certain requests. In addition, other responsibilities include assisting with audit requests and various ad hoc projects. The individual must be detailed oriented, pro-active, organized, focused, and possess strong managerial, analytical and technical skills. Individual must be able to perform effectively in a fast paced environment. This person must be able to communicate well and interact confidently with all staff, management levels and will serve as a back-up for the Director or VP/Controller.
Responsibilities
• Review journal entries, monthly financial statements, variance analysis, Cash Flow Forecasts, and account reconciliations. Prepare JV reporting package. Interact confidently with all staff and management levels. Create and foster staff development through accounting and system guidance and other development courses. Must possess strong understanding of the General Ledger System.
• Provide accounting and departmental procedural guidance to staff and management. Review departmental accounting policies and procedures to ensure that internal controls are in place and are followed through in a timely manner. Research, design, develop and implement controls, policies and procedures to support efficiency and standardization across the accounting department. Interact positively with other departments and the field finance directors to foster a productive work environment at the highest level of efficiency. Provide suggestion for improvement. Effective and efficient use of system and other application resources available to the department (i.e., E1, GL Company, excel, or other reporting applications) without duplicating efforts.
• Review monthly G/L account analysis. Review Balance Sheet account reconciliation, to ensure stale balances are cleared, and analyze trends and costs incurred. Interact effectively and efficiently with other Departments to ensure that all reconciling items are corrected in a timely manner.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual schedules for21CF, other ad hoc special projects, and assist with audits. Ability to prioritize assignments and projects with a sense of urgency. Ability to time manage staffs to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
• Position requires bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 5+ years of general accounting experience, of which 1-2 years in a Financial Managerial role. CPA preferred.
• Cable TV/Broadcast and JDE Enterprise One experience is a plus.
• Must have strong managerial, accounting, analytical, and technical skills.
• Ability to be pro-active in resolving financial issues is a required.
• Position requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate well with all levels of management and staff.
• High mathematical and analytical skills required.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
• Overall, a logical problem solver.
• Strong PC skills, Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Must be able to work efficiently with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment, under minimal supervision, and ability to effectively meet tight deadlines.
• This person must be adaptable and very hands-on.
