Compensation and Benefits Accountant
I. Job Summary
| Major goals and objectives.
The Compensation and Benefits Accountant will provide the accounting and reporting of stockholders’ equity accounts, administer the company’s stock and deferred compensation plans, as well as be responsible for Section 16 SEC filings. The Compensation and Benefits accountant serves as liaison with and manages Meredith’s relationship with its Stock Transfer Agent and the administrator of its equity purchase and compensation programs. The accountant also prepares and maintains reports for our officers, directors and management. This position is instrumental in meeting Section 16 SEC deadlines and includes a variety of functions involving interactions with senior management and directors, the legal department, and the Meredith family.

Managing Meredith’s relationships with our share-based compensation administrators (including MSSB and Certent) and accounting and reporting for Meredith’s share-based compensation, including maintaining the Company’s deferred compensation plan

Processing and overseeing employee stock compensation events and deferred compensation plans such as grants, vesting, deferrals, cash outs and cancellations. Authorizing the issuance and cancellation of the Meredith stock with the Transfer Agent

Accounting and reporting for Meredith’s stockholders’ equity accounts, and completing monthly reconciliations for stockholder’s equity and benefit related accounts

Maintaining data regarding stock ownership percentages and support the proxy filing

Completing SEC Form Filings including Forms 3, 4, and 5

Assisting with the benefit plan audits, including 5500 and 11-K filings

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
Two years in a combination of accounting or financial analysis experience preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Self-driven, motivated, and goal oriented, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively within all levels of the organization.
Proven creative problem-solver, with good attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision in a deadline-oriented environment.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to quickly collect, organize, interpret, analyze and present financial data in an accurate and concise manner.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize under tight timeframes.
Understanding of basic accounting principles.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Oracle Financial and Hyperion systems experience preferred, but not required.
