Position Summary:
The Director, State and Strategic Client Relations will be a field leader and professional with autonomy to make decisions in assigned states. The position will responsible for developing strategies and tactics to educate, inform, interpret and influence public policies that support the development of new and existing online learning schools and programs. The Director will identify and execute school development opportunities including pre-proposal due diligence, new school applications and proposals, retention of existing customers, strategies for gaining regulatory approval, and negotiate educational products and services contracts with customers. This position will be assigned strategic customer accounts as a single point of accountability, ensuring customer expectations are met (academic, operations, financial) and be the customer’s advocate regarding customer requests.. The Director will monitor and be accountable for P/L performance of strategic customer accounts and identify upsell opportunities to meet customer needs. This position is also responsible for building, nurturing and enlisting the support of a network of state-based advocates including education, legislative, community influencers, business leaders, and families. The Director will, when and where appropriate, identify, recommend and nurture a diverse group of board members for schools with governing boards.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Identify, pursue and achieve new school opportunities within assigned states;
• Retain and strengthen existing customer relationships;
• Work with state-based lobbyists and advocates to influence legislation, regulations and policies affecting the spectrum of online and blended learning;
• Strategic account management;
• Cultivate ongoing relationships with regulators, online learning allies, influencers, customer board members (where applicable) in assigned states;
• Additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Capabilities:
• Knowledge of and experience in education and/or governmental affairs, specifically online and blended learning;
• Superior written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills, and presentation skills;
• Strong technology skills relating to electronic communications, web research, and productivity tools;
• Effective time management practices.

Qualifications
• 5+ years in strategic account sales, education sales, new school development, strategic account management, government relations, lobbying or business development;
• Bachelor’s degree required, Masters in education, business, law or public policy a plus;
• Ability to travel up to 33% of the time;
• Must reside within a reasonable distance of an airport with regularly scheduled commercial airline service;
• Must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds;
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
